Which Dragon Ball Anime Is the Best?
Dragon Ball franchise has become one of the most iconic in all of anime. However, between Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball GT, there has been a lot of different anime in the franchise. In this video, we're going to break down the various anime and see where they rank in terms of one another.
Chronologically, Dragon Ball is the first series in the franchise. Starting as a Journey to the West-inspired adventure story, Dragon Ball eventually started focusing more on fighting. Overall, the original series has pretty much everything, and it laid the groundwork for Dragon Ball Z and everything that came after. While that might not necessarily mean Dragon Ball is the best of the various series, the original absolutely deserves credit for how it set the tone for future installments, and that will be taken into consideration in these rankings. From there, Dragon Ball Z picked up after a time skip and the birth of Goku's son, Gohan. This then led to Dragon Ball GT, which is generally disliked and was eventually stricken from canon.
Dragon Ball Super was the most recent animated installment in the franchise, not counting the original net animation Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Although it's unclear just when -- or if -- the series will return, the Dragon Ball franchise is popular, so it's unlikely to stay gone for long. The manga currently expands on the ending of Dragon Ball Super, taking Goku and Vegeta into space to fight against the energy-absorbing Moro. However, it's unclear if when the anime returns it will actually pull from that plotline.
